Addressed mail & mailing lists
My mailing list upload was rejected
The most common causes are a file that is not really a CSV, a missing header row, or no recognisable address column. The upload tells you what it could and could not find — fix that and upload again.
What usually causes it
- The file is an .xlsx or .numbers file rather than a CSV.
- There is no header row, so the columns cannot be identified.
- Title or summary rows sit above the headings.
- There is no address column — a list of names and emails cannot be mailed.
- The file is empty, or every row is blank.
Warnings are not rejections
If we can read the list but something looks off — no state column, for instance — you get a warning rather than a refusal. Read it: a list that uploads is not automatically a list that mails well.
We recommend
If the file will not cooperate, send it to us and we will look at it. A malformed export is a five-minute problem for us and can be an afternoon for you.
