Addressed mail & mailing lists
What should be in my mailing list CSV?
Upload a CSV with a header row and one recipient per line. At minimum you need a street address, city, state and ZIP; a name column makes the piece personal. Export from a spreadsheet as CSV and you are usually most of the way there.
Columns we look for
- Name — first and last, or a single full-name column.
- Street address — including apartment or suite where it applies.
- City
- State — the two-letter code is safest.
- ZIP
Getting it out of a spreadsheet
- Put your column headings in the first row.
- Remove any title rows, totals or blank rows above the headings.
- Save or export as CSV rather than .xlsx.
- Upload it — we check it and tell you what we found before you pay.
We recommend
Use the two-letter state code. A column that says "New Jersey" on some rows and "NJ" on others is the most common reason a list needs a second pass.
